During each treatment 10 injections are administered to specific areas on the face. There may be some discomfort during the injections, however this is usually well tolerated.
During a single treatment approximately 2ml of Profhilo is injected. After the treatment you will notice bumps in the skin at the site of the injections. These will disperse over the next 24-48 hours and you may notice an improvement in skin hydration and plumpness. A second session is advised after 1 month and you will see maximal benefits a few weeks after this second session. Benefits will last for up to 6-8 months after which time you may need top up sessions every 6 months or so.
The procedure is generally safe and well tolerated. Common risks include failure to achieve the desired degree of improvement, redness, swelling, bruising, discomfort, tenderness and itchiness and these will usually resolve within weeks of the treatment. Uncommon risks include infection, facial asymmetry, allergic reaction and the development of unsightly or keloid scarring. As for any minor injury to the skin there is a risk of triggering cold sores and if you suffer from these regularly then you should inform Dr Lynch who can prescribe antiviral medication to reduce the risk. A numbing cream can be used if required - you will need to inform Dr Lynch and attend the clinic 1 hour in advance of the procedure for the cream to be applied.
When you attend for treatment you will be asked to sign a consent form. This contains a full list of the risks of treatment and it is essential that you read this carefully before attending for treatment and contact us if you have any questions: https://drmagnuslynch.com/consent/profhilo
